Donna Downs &
Jo Goldsmith - Head of Childcare
Our staff are a fully committed and motivated childcare team who are highly qualified and experienced professionals. We encourage staff to further their studies so that they can provide the best possible childcare for all the children in attendance.
Regular training is also undertaken by all the staff to ensure that their knowledge is up to date including in house training sessions run by the ‘Totem pole.
Each room is managed by a room manager who then reports to the Deputy Manager's and then the Head of Childcare centre. A Key person is assigned to each child prior to them attending the Acorn Childcare centre, this ensures that the parent/carer have an initial contact person however if the child forms a positive relationship with a different practitioner, then in consultation with the parent/carer, a change will be made to your child’s key person if possible.
The Acorn Childcare centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff adhere to this commitment. Enhanced DBS checks are carried out to ensure the suitability of practitioners to care for the children. The Children Act 1989 requires that all staff pass on information which raises concern that a child may be at risk from non-accidental injury, neglect, emotional or sexual abuse.
